Bernstein analysts: LNG production in U.S. is ‘unsustainable’ at current prices FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailPrint分享S&P Global Market Intelligence ($):Low global prices for LNG spot cargoes are increasing the likelihood that U.S. LNG production will begin to be shut-in soon, Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. analysts said March 4.Prices have collapsed in recent months on concerns of oversupply and weaker-than-expected demand in a relatively mild winter. The outbreak of a new coronavirus that is rattling financial markets has also exacerbated the glut by stifling demand, while supply continues to grow with U.S. projects coming online.“The current gas market is unsustainable,” the Bernstein analysts said. “Prices will have to rise or U.S. capacity has to shut down.”The benchmark price for spot-traded LNG in Northeast Asia, the Platts Japan Korea Marker is hovering around $3/MMBtu, a level that does not support shipments of spot cargoes from the U.S. The Platts Japan Korea Marker price dropped below $4/MMBtu on Jan. 23 for the first time in 10 years. So far, U.S. shut-ins have not been evident. A number of factors explain why, according to Bernstein, which expects near-term prices to remain low into the summer. Some buyers’ contracts do not allow them to cancel U.S. LNG cargoes. Buyers who do have cancellation rights can pass along costs to end-users and earn a margin at a percentage of the costs, incentivizing them to keep lifting U.S. cargoes. How buyers consider shipping costs could be another factor, the analysts said.Further cancellations of LNG cargoes might not have a dramatic financial impact on U.S. LNG projects, Goltz said. But throttled-back exports could ripple through the natural gas value chain and pummel Henry Hub prices in an already oversupplied domestic market. Low gas prices benefit utility buyers and end consumers, Bernstein said. But a prolonged slump would harm higher-cost LNG exporters and gas producers in the U.S.[Corey Paul]More ($): ‘Unsustainable’ gas prices could force US LNG shut-ins soon, Bernstein says

The $1 billion, tech-savvy credit union in Rye, N.Y., needed to find a way to match consumers to loans without subjecting them to a full application process and hard inquiry credit check that would affect their credit scores. Before the change, consumers were required to submit a full loan application when they showed interest in a line of credit—everything from auto loans to personal loans to credit cards. And if they didn’t qualify, they still had to absorb a potential negative credit score impact because of the hard inquiry. Even more, USALLIANCE Financial loan officers had to complete a lengthy manual decisioning process for each inquiry, which tied up resources.Defined GoalsUSALLIANCE Financial envisioned an online tool that ideally would:automatically prequalify member and non-member website visitors for USALLIANCE Financial loan products without a hard inquiry that could affect a consumer’s credit score;create a positive educational interaction for applicants discouraged by previous declines or who have little or no knowledge of their credit status; andreduce the workload of loan officers by creating efficiencies with the loan application queue. 24SHARESShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblr

The most difficult talk that I’ve ever had to have with my daughter, Kylie, happened when she was in 5th grade; and no, it wasn’t the “birds and bees.” Kylie asked me for about the 13thtime if Santa Claus was real. I answered as I always had, “What do you think?” And, sigh, that’s when the conversation took a different turn.I told her that I still believe in Santa Claus. She, of course, wanted to hold fast to the literal interpretation that one jolly man, dressed in a fuzzy red and white suit was delivering millions of treats in a 24-hour period, buzzing through the sky pulled by a team of flying reindeer – truthfully, who can blame her? It was her only reality up to that point. What I shared with her then—and have attempted to reinforce in the succeeding nine years—is that the spiritof Santa is very real. There are many amazing life lessons that we can learn from old St. Nick.Give freelyAnne Frank said, “No one has ever become poor by giving.” This rings true in all senses. Our time, talents and resources often multiply when shared. We encourage every credit union employee, member and board member to get out in the community and give back to those around them; they embrace showcasing the #CUDifference!Laugh often You can’t take things too seriously. After all, it’s just life. Always seek out the fun in things – you, and those around you, will be much happier.Cookies are a food group Most everyone believes there are only five food groups, but Santa and I are here to argue. You can’t tell me that a fresh snickerdoodle cookie, still warm, isn’t worthy of its own food group.Work togetherCredit unions are made up of people working together to achieve a better life for themselves and their community. We know that collaboration fuels innovation. Santa has elves, reindeer, and Mrs. Claus on his team and they’re all pulling together for one common goal, even though they have different roles.Celebrate differencesRudolph didn’t get kicked off the team for being different—he was promoted! How boring would life be if we were all the same? Just as Santa celebrates and encourages differences within his team, we do the same! Creating opportunities for each member and employee to individually shine is crucial in creating a rich culture that can elevate our credit unions.Magic is realAmazing things happen to us when we’re open to wonder. Magic is all over if you simply keep your eyes and heart open to it. I see magic daily through the eyes of the individuals we serve in Montana. Hosting toy drives to provide families in need with toys during the holiday season and raising money for non-profit organizations such as Shodair Children’s Hospital and Watson Children’s Shelter are just a couple ways that our credit unions spread magic throughout our communities. On that fateful night the conversation moved from Santa to the Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, Great Pumpkin, and the Leprechaun. I explained that sometimes life isn’t black and white and sometimes, despite your logical train of thought, you just have to believe in the magic of life. I am hopeful that I have set the example of these lessons for Kylie, our credit unions, and all others in my life. 33SHARESShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblr,Tracie Kenyon Tracie Kenyon is President/CEO of the Montana’s Credit Unions, the trade association for Montana’s credit unions and credit union organizations. TRUFFLE AS A NEW GASTRO BRAND OF TUROPOLJE AND ŽUMBERKA Danijel Jančić, owner Bistra Babriga from Velika Gorica points out that this is a great potential, and that before the crown he already had regular guests from Zagreb who came to the restaurant exclusively for truffles. Areas of the Zagreb area, and especially Turopolje, have always been rich in forests and oaks. Little by little, a whole treasure was discovered – 16 species of truffles, which were not known anywhere in the world until then, and today they are exhibited in the Mushroom Museum on the central square of Zagreb. Recently, Žumberak also proved to be a site of black truffles, which already had its premiere in some Zagreb restaurants. But many concrete steps have already been taken. Thus, the first meeting with Istrian truffle growers has already been organized, who passed on their knowledge and experiences to local truffle growers in Turopolje and Žumberak, both in the context of hunting and tourist tourism, ie how to complete the story and make a tourist product. A good example of how important promotion and communication are. You can have the best product in the world, but if no one knows about us, the whole story is of no use. It all starts with us, we have to be the narrators of the story and we have to pull the locomotive. It was with local licensed truffle growers that the first black truffle hunt was organized for promotional activities with journalists, bloggers and influencers. A campaign was launched in the media, social networks, more videos were produced and in a very short time of only a few months, we can certainly establish how the story was received and talk began about truffles in Zagreb County. “We still have a lot of work ahead of us, we have just started branding Zagreb County through truffles. We want to encourage the whole chain to get involved as they have added value and a rounded tourism product. From the involvement of family farms through the production of truffle products, restaurants, guides, agencies, holiday homes, etc.… this is the key, to have a complete story. Travel agencies are especially important to us, so that they are the bearers of the project. The story and the product are there, we have to arrange and round it well and offer it to the market. And here agencies are extremely important to us”Concludes Alilović. Photo: Josip Škof In a recent conversation with Bruno Ceronja, owner restaurant Mon Ami pointed out that Turopolje black truffle certainly has great potential for enriching the gastronomic offer, as well as for the motive of coming to Turopolje. “We used to use Istrian black truffle, and now we will proudly use our black truffle from Turopolje grove.Ceronja points out. As for the gastronomic offer, Ceronja points out that in its restaurant it will have a hot and cold appetizer, main course and black truffle dessert. This year, one of my discoveries is certainly that in the Zagreb County, ie Žumberak and Turopolje forests, there is a truffle – black and white. And not only does it exist through a couple of copies, but it is available for commercialization through the market, ie placement towards restaurants. / / / ZAGREB AND ZAGREB COUNTY SHOWED HOW TOURISM IS DEVELOPING TODAY. A STORY FROM WHICH DUBROVNIK CAN LEARN A LOT We must also mention the excellent project Around Zagreb, in the joint cooperation of the Tourist Board of the City of Zagreb and the Tourist Board of Zagreb County, which launched an excellent partnership, promoting the capital and the Zagreb Green Ring through a unique destination campaign under the slogan “Near the city, close to the heart “/” Around Zagreb “. In conclusion, it is an excellent quality tourist product, and only half an hour from the center of Zagreb. As I mentioned, a lot has been done so far, although the story is just beginning. It is first necessary to develop the awareness of the local population and partners, which has already been achieved and it is a real success. Because truffle growers and restaurants are already feeling the positive financial benefits, which is always the most important step, to make the whole story market-defined and profitable for everyone in the chain. Thus, in May this year, the Zagreb County Tourist Board began to work actively on communication and gastro promotion of Turopolje and Žumberak through truffles or the king of mushrooms and premium gastro products. Scrambled eggs with black truffles, štruklji with truffles, pumpkin soup with truffles, duck breast with truffles, etc .. all this has already become standard dishes in the gastronomic offer of the above-mentioned restaurants, which were initially included in the whole story. The second is to define a tourist product and offer it on the market, which is in the process. Of course, every start is difficult and arduous, and it takes time, but certainly the Zagreb County Tourist Board has done a lot in a very short time, the positive benefits are already visible, the story has been received, and they are on the right track to become a brand and truffle. motive for the arrival of Zagreb County.
Of course, as always, there are two challenges. The first is to make the local population aware of the truffles from the Turopolje forests, both for domestic consumption and to come to terms with that story and become their ambassadors. The second is the branding and promotion of the Zagreb County towards Zagreb, in order to encourage the arrival of both the citizens of Zagreb, as well as tourists who primarily came to Zagreb. That is why the already mentioned excellent Around Zagreb platform as well as the synergy with the Zagreb Tourist Board is extremely important, because truffles are certainly the top motive for coming. “Some are still skeptical, because they do not know that there are truffles in Turopolje, while others have already recognized it, so I already have some regular guests who come from Zagreb to us exclusively because of truffles. Of course the situation with the coronavirus has disrupted everything, but it is certain that there is great interest. Certainly, branding Turopolje truffles and connecting with gastronomy is a great potential for the city of Velika Gorica and the entire Zagreb County.”Points out Jančić and concludes that he definitely sees himself in the future in the story with truffles. Logical and natural cooperation, which is a win-win for both destinations. More on that in the attachment. “We decided to promote a new attraction – ‘hunting’ for black truffles in Turopolje meadow. We want to educate the local population about the importance of creating additional attractions in their area, and offer visitors to Turopolje, as a new tourist product, ‘truffle hunting’. We also plan to organize tastings of dishes with truffles in restaurants in Zagreb County”, Says Ivana Alilović, director of the Zagreb County Tourist Board. The Zagreb County Tourist Board also points out that cooking workshops are planned to educate Zagreb County caterers on how best to pair truffles in gastronomy, as well as cooperation with travel agencies with the aim of starting to offer ready-made tourist products on the market. Photo: Josip Škof “In the last two years, we have found a lot of locations with truffles, even one species that is very rare in the world. Lately, we have been supported by the Zagreb County and enabled us to show people where truffle places are and to preserve the habitat.”Points out truffle player Mario Kolić. Thus, this exclusive branch of mushroom growing, at the initiative of the Zagreb County Tourist Board, found its way to local menus, ie they encouraged caterers to combine truffles with traditional dishes. So the restaurants of the Turopolje region, Mon Ami and Bistro Babriga, as well as Chop Old House in Velika Gorica have already included their offer on the topic of black truffles, which is a great success in a short time. Of course, we must be aware that this is a premium product, so the gastronomic offer with truffles certainly belongs to a higher price category and we are not talking about the mass, but about the quality of catering facilities. In Zagreb and Zagreb County, the first outlines of tourist tours have already been defined, and there are also specialized agencies that make trips with tourists as a tourist product, ie guided tours. truffle hunting, which combines the adventure of a forest quest with the pleasure of tasting this exclusive delicacy in selected city restaurants. So very concrete and market story. First going to nature, education about search dogs, truffles, truffle hunting and later tasting and going to restaurants that already offer traditional dishes with truffles from Zagreb County. What is crucial, apart from the media story, is that the whole story be marketable, ie arranged as a tourist product. This is exactly what is being actively worked on, and the first steps have already been taken. Interestingly, black and white truffles have always been in the woods around the green Zagreb ring, but no one knew that, at least not the general public. Until the moment when the Zagreb County Tourist Board started telling the story of truffles in Zagreb County. Photo: Josip Škof “From the cold appetizer we will have a steak carpaccio with grated black truffles, and the warm appetizer will be in a combination of wide noodles with eggs, specific to the Turopolje region, with truffles. Pumpkin soup with truffles is also a great addition. For the main course, we plan to offer pork in cranberry and truffle sauce as well as duck breast. As for desserts, we will offer ice cream as well as chocolate mousse with truffles, to complete the whole gastro story ” Photos: Josip Škof

Marga Schaap, independent chair of the scheme, said: “Despite extensive economising, costs of increasingly complex regulation and supervision keep on rising.“Against an annual premium income of between €3.5m-4m, we need to spend at least €500,000m in costs,” she said. “This is absurd and not sustainable.”However, extending the contract with Aegon would – as a consequence of the current low interest rates and increasing longevity – require contributions to rise of 30%, Schaap said.Individual DC arrangements are not common with industry-wide schemes, and a DC plan would a first for PGB, which has taken in dozens of smaller pension funds during the past decade. The new individual DC plan must enable the fishermen to convert their accrued capital into pension rights before their retirement, the union documents indicated. However, PGB made clear on its website that was assessing whether and how it could implement the desired DC plan.Meanwhile, Zeevisserij is retaining the option to select another provider if PGB is unable to meet its deadline, Schaap said, who indicated that joining a PPI may be an alternative. She also underlined that the board of the fisheries scheme had not taken a decision yet. That said, another issue is the fact that the fisheries industry lacked a clear link with the printing sector.Earlier, Jetta Klijnsma, state secretary for social affairs, had asked PGB to exercise maximum restraint in further stretching its scope of action as long as the new pensions vehicle APF didn’t have legal status.Recently, she said that the APF needed further elaboration and that, as a consequence, it would come into force no sooner than 1 January 2016.For more on what is driving consolidation in the Dutch pension sector, see IPE’s recent coverage of the matterPGB could not be contacted for further comment.” The social partners of the €100m industry-wide scheme for the offshore fisheries, Zeevisserij, have said they wish to join the €19bn mandatory industry-wide pension fund for the printing industry, PGB.Employers and unions said they intended to set up an individual defined contribution (DC) plan with PGB, while leaving its current assets with insurer Aegon, which has guaranteed life-long benefits for the pension fund’s participants.Documents sent to union members revealed that the reason for changing pension arrangements was the end of its contract with Aegon, due to expire at the end of the year.Another issue were the increasing costs at the small scheme, which had less than 900 active participants, approximately 1,000 pensioners and 1,250 deferred members.
