NEWHALL – “Thirty Years and Going Strong” will be the theme of the Santa Clarita Valley Committee on Aging’s 30th annual meeting at 5 p.m. Friday at the Senior Center, 22900 Market Street, Newhall. Organizers will announce a new collaboration to improve the facilities at William S. Hart Park – joining in with the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation, the city of Santa Clarita and the Committee on Aging Corporation. The Committee on Aging also plans to officially begin the Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center Foundation during the meeting and announce the president of the organization’s board. Both projects will benefit the Senior Center, which grew by about 14 percent, serving 8,143 senior citizens this past year. Local dignitaries and public officials, including Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich and Mayor Laurene Weste, as well as state and federal legislators and local business leaders are expected. The Committee will honor its founders and early leaders – Juanita Heinley, Russ Cochran, Barbara Stearns-Cochran and Paul Boog. Others who will be honored include volunteers who have given many years of service to the Santa Clarita Valley community. For information, call the Senior Center at (661) 259-9444.
