first_imgVoodoo Dead wrapped up their three-night Colorado run on Sunday night, with an exploratory and psychedelic show at Boulder’s Fox Theatre. Last night’s lineup consisted of guitarist Steve Kimock, bassist Oteil Burbridge, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti, drummer John Kimock, and special guest vocalist Tanya Shylock. Guitarist Jackie Greene, who joined the band for their previous two shows at Englewood, CO’s Gothic Theatre, was not present for Sunday’s Fox Theatre gig. The four-piece dug deep into the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia’s repertoire, as well as choice cover selections throughout the entirety of the show.Voodoo Dead opened up the first set with Steve Kimock’s “It’s Up To You”, as the quartet sandwiched an “Other One” jam in the middle of the instrumental. The band then worked through “Gomorrah” and “Sun Sun Sun”, before inviting up vocalist Tonya Shylock to assist on a cover of Aretha Franklin’s “Baby I Love You”. Shylock stayed on stage to assist Voodoo Dead with a take on the Grateful Dead’s “High Time”, before closing the set with Jerry Garcia’s “Tore Up Over You”.Following a brief set break, Voodoo Dead opened up the second set with “You’re The One”, before moving into “Deep Elem Blues”. The quartet then invited Shylock back up to assist on vocals, as they worked through covers of Jerry Garcia’s “Shining Star” and The Band’s “The Weight”, before bringing the second set to a close with a rocking take on “Help On The Way”, “Slipknot!”, and “Franklins Tower”. A cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing” into “Terrapin Station” served as the night’s encore.Luckily, fans can listen to full-show audio of Voodoo Dead’s Fox Theatre performance below:Voodoo Dead – Fox Theatre – 11/11/2018[Audio: nico11104]Setlist: Voodoo Dead | Fox Theatre | Boulder, CO | 11/11/2018Set One: It’s Up To You> Other One jam> It’s Up To You, Gomorrah, Sun Sun Sun, Baby I Love You (Aretha Franklin cover)*, High Time*, Tore Up Over You*Set Two: You’re the One (w/Pusherman), Deep Elum Blues, Shining Star*, The Weight*, Help On the Way> Slipknot!> Franklin’s Tower*Encore: Little Wing> Terrapin Stationlast_img read more
